Music & vocal synthesis

Making Music With Voices That Don't Exist.

I'm Vega Lyrae, a music producer with a particular fondness for virtual singers. I compose originals and make covers using vocal synthesis, handling arrangement, vocal programming and tuning, instrumentation, mixing, and finishing.

I also have a habit of building tools and experimenting with custom voices along the way. Sometimes the music inspires the technology. Sometimes it's the other way around.

These are original works composed by Vega Lyrae, separate from the covers above. They're selected highlights, not a complete discography.

The creative process

From a Melody to a Virtual Performance.

A virtual singer still needs musical decisions: phrasing, expression, timing, editing, and a production that gives the voice somewhere to belong. Synthesizer V, Vocaloid, UTAU, and DAWs are tools in that process, not a one-click songwriting solution.

These are broad stages I work through, not a fixed sequence for every release. Original composition and arranging a cover begin from different material.

  1. Composition or Arrangement

Write an original idea, or shape an arrangement around an existing song.

  2. Vocal Programming & Tuning

Edit notes, phrasing, timing, and expression to give the performance its character.

  3. Instrumentation & Production

Build the musical setting and make the parts work together.

  4. Mixing & Finishing

Balance the voice and instruments, refine the sound, and prepare the finished mix.

  5. Preparing for Release

Bring the music, presentation, and appropriate credits together for publication.

Character & musical expression

A Dragon Girl With a Singing Voice.

Aurora's synthesized singing voice is part of her public musical identity, and one of the voices I use for originals and covers. I handle the creative production; her published music isn't autonomously composed, mixed, or mastered by an AI character.

Original voice research

Sometimes I Build the Voices, Too.

Making music also gives me questions to explore through audio software and custom voicebanks. ALIZARIN is a separate research project exploring original synthetic vocal identities, rather than reproducing existing performers' voices without authorization.

Its experimental primary voicebank beta is available by inquiry, while the wider framework remains in development. It isn't the software behind every Aurora release or a claim of compatibility with every synthesis workflow.
